Hearl is a Chartered Surveyor who is Senior Partner in Holroyd Miller, a firm of Chartered Surveyors based in Wakefield and Dewsbury but who practice throughout West Yorkshire and the North of England. Educated at Silcoates School in Wakefield before joining Holroyd Sons & Pickersgill Chartered Surveyors as a Trainee in 1971 in Dewsbury, Hearl qualified as a Valuer and Auctioneer via The College of Estate Management, part of Reading University and became a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 2000.

Gordon was previously Managing Director of Bespoke Precast Ltd in Sheffield, employing over 70 staff until the company was sold in 2007. Gordon is a member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA). Educated in the local area of Penistone and at Barnsley College, Gordon has an in-depth knowledge of the local community, education system and the needs of young people.

Colin became Principal of Barnsley College in October 2008. Barnsley College was rated Outstanding by OFSTED. His previous post was as Vice Principal Curriculum at Newcastle College. He has worked in the further education sector since 1984. Colin also worked for 9 years as a part time inspector for OFSTED. Colin attended the Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College in Darlington before studying for a first degree in Chemistry at Norwich. Since then he has completed teacher training, a Post Graduate Diploma in Social Education, an MBA in College Management and the Principals’ Qualifying Programme.

Jenny has worked for Barnsley Local Authority for 21 years in a variety of roles in relation to behaviour and attendance, including working on the management team for the Education Welfare Service. Currently she is part of the Senior Leadership Team for Springwell and the Wider Borough Services. She works across all the Local Authority schools offering advice, guidance and challenge for pupils who are at risk of being excluded. She also has extensive experience as a school governor.

Stewart Harper is Associate Registrar at Leeds Beckett University where he is responsible for a range of registry and student administration functions, working across the university and externally with organisations such as UCAS and SPA. He has worked in Higher Education for all but a year of his working life. He is also Chair of Victoria Primary Academy, which joined the Trust in November 2015, and looks forward to working with the Trust more widely, supporting the aim of really making a difference to all the young people involved.

In April 2016 Barnsley College appointed Yiannis Koursis as the Deputy Principal. Yiannis began his career in Hospitality Management in Greece and worked in several Senior Managerial roles until he became the Head of Hospitality, Travel and Tourism, and Commerce at West Suffolk College in 2005. As Vice Principal at Loughborough College, Yiannis was the strategic lead on Curriculum Delivery, Business Development, Marketing and Communications, and building relationships with funding bodies. He was responsible for the 100% growth of apprenticeships and for growing the EFA contract by £2.0m.

Dianne has worked at Barnsley College since 1997, starting as a teacher and progressing into management. During her time as a manager she has led and developed a variety of curriculum areas. She successfully completed a Certificate in Education, ILM and graduated as a mature student with North London University, gaining a BA in Childhood Studies. Prior to her employment at Barnsley College she worked in Primary Education for 18 years. Alongside this role she also worked for the Youth Service, starting as a volunteer and progressing to Senior Worker where she managed a local junior and senior club for 8 years.

After graduating in statistics, Michael worked for nearly 40 years in Local Government in areas as diverse as strategic planning, grant-making, public consultation, media relations and policing. A National Leader of Governance, he has served on various governing bodies since 1985. Currently Michael chairs the governing bodies of the Trust’s Springwell Learning Community and the Barnsley Primary Partnership. He was instrumental in forming the Barnsley Governors Association, for whom he delivers governor training.

Originally form the North West, Mark moved over to Sheffield in 1993 to study a degree in Accounting, Financial Management and Business Studies at Sheffield University. After graduation, Mark trained within an accountancy practice as an auditor and qualified as a charted accountant (ACA – ICAEW) in 1999. Post qualification Mark has worked as an accountant within the public sector (education) and is currently the Head of Finance at Sheffield Hallam University, located within the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing.
Ian Bennett Hague-Brown
Secondary School Head of Department and Chair of Littlecoates Academy Governing Body
Ian is Head of Humanities at Ormiston Maritime Academy in Grimsby. He is responsible for leading and managing the curriculum teams delivering geography, history and RE across the Academy. Prior to this role, he started his teaching career at Maritime, joining the Academy in July 2013 as a newly-qualified teacher. Ian is the Chair of the Governing Body at Littlecoates Primary Academy, which joined Wellspring Trust in July 2016. Being no stranger to governance, Ian has also served on Governing bodies of both an FE and HE institution as a student representative.
Planning & Admissions and School Funding Strategy Manager
With an honours degree in biochemistry and a masters degree in education, Warwick worked in Kirklees 11-16 High Schools for 31 years, firstly as a science teacher followed by 15 years as a senior leader, including 10 years as a head teacher. He then worked for over 10 years (until recent retirement) as a senior education officer for Kirklees Council, with particular focus on strategic planning (including BSF), resourcing, governance and admissions.
